The City of Boston's Mayor's Office of New Urban Mechanics

About this speaker

Mark is a design engineer, artist, educator, and systems thinker passionate about helping others through the power of intentional and impact oriented human-centered design. A self-proclaimed “people person” and huge nerd, you may catch him sparking up a conversation with anybody willing to chat or with his head buried deep in a book at a nearby park or body of water, regardless of its size.

He aims to make civic life more resilient by collaborating and co-designing with community members to address key issues and create an atmosphere of openness and co-ownership.

Before taking on his current role as a Food Security Design Fellow, Mark worked as the access programs coordinator at El Museo del Barrio in East Harlem, New York and recently received a joint Master of Arts in Design Engineering from Brown University and RISD.
