Sean McPherson is a former carpenter and architect who is now an an art and architectural historian at Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts, where he teaches courses in architectural history and Asian art history. He is the founding advisor of the Gen. One student group, as well as a co-founder of the faculty-student-staff Class Beyond the Classroom initiative that brings diverse groups together to advocate for first-gen student access to higher education, as well as academic and professional success in college and beyond. McPherson is also the Asian Studies Program Coordinator, a role in which he pushes for access to study abroad and internship opportunities for first-gen students.
