As a first-generation undergraduate student, Tonya is determined to pave the way for future generations by achieving academic success and contributing positively to her campus and community. She understands the challenges of being a first-generation student and facing more significant barriers in accessing resources and opportunities. She is committed to overcoming these obstacles through hard work, perseverance, and seeking out the necessary support systems. In particular, Tonya recognizes the importance of curriculum enhancements that provide undergraduate research and mentorship opportunities. Tonya is in her last undergraduate semester pursuing her Bachelor’s in Social Work at Texas A&M University-Commerce. She is a long-time resident of Naples, Texas, and enjoys the quiet life. Tonya is married to Tim Elmore and has two adult children. She is an active member of her church and commits her time to helping the youth in our community. Her ultimate goal is to be a motivational speaker, speaking to basic needs, insecurities, and their impact on our society.
