About this speaker
McKenna McNeil, was born and raised in Northeast Texas. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Social Work at Texas A&M University-Commerce and will graduate this December with a BSW. Social work has always fascinated McKenna, as it provides an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and communities. Throughout her academic journey, she has gained a strong foundation in understanding the barriers in higher education and how supportive services help alleviate those barriers. In addition to her classroom studies, she has actively sought practical experience in the field. McKenna is completing her NTCC Community College CARE Center internship, working with diverse populations, including first-generation students. She loves working with first-generation students, helping break the cycle of intergenerational barriers, and providing opportunities for upward social mobility. McKenna is a mother of a toddler and loves spending time with her, exploring nature, and learning about sustainable living.
